In
1979, Clayton Nursery was started when we planted 2500 trees in
Nampa, Idaho. After more than 20 years at our Nampa farm,
in 2002, we moved most of our operation 20 miles west to another
agricultural town, Wilder, Idaho.
Balled
and Burlap trees are the backbone of our company. We ship our
trees to many different types and sizes of businesses. Most of our
customers are located in the intermountain area.We
also grow #7, #10, #15, and #20
containerized trees
using a "Pot-in-Pot" system. This system provides an outstanding environment for root growth. It also prevents the trees from tipping over and provides excellent
winter protection. These trees are still grown
at our Nampa farm.
Traditionally, we have had two basic shipping
seasons. The
first was from the end of February until the middle of
April. The second was from the end of October until the snow
flew; usually the first part of December. Over the past few
years, though, we have started doing more and more shipping
throughout the summer. In the spring and fall, when the
trees are dormant, we ship on flatbed trucks. During the
warmer times, we use 53' refrigerated trucks.. We talk with
our customers to try and deliver the trees when they want them
to arrive. The customer pays the shipping.
We have a one-half truckload minimum tree order.
