Oak, Gambel

Quercus coccinea

Zone:  3 Height:  15-20'
Foliage:  Dark Green Spread:  10-15'
Fall Foliage: Yellow/Red Shape:  Round

A Native Rocky Mountain Oak with a shrubby growth habit.  May also be grown to a medium sized tree.  Glossy green leaves turn a golden yellow to an occasional orange or red in fall.  Tolerates both dry conditions and alkaline soils.  Hardy to 8,000', where it grows in beautiful groves that may cover entire mountainsides.
